With only a couple days notice, Emily decided to throw herself in the running for the annual Cupcake Throwdown.
25 bakers prepared and donated samples of a chosen flavour and went head to head, vying for cupcake supremacy. As soon as the doors opened, Fortune Sound Club was jammed packed with sugar loving foodies ready to vote for their favourite cupcakes. The evening was a complete success and together $4800 was raised for local charities – RainCity Housing, Five Star Footy Club, and Leaky Heaven Youth!
Prizes were given out for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd best cupcakes overall – as well as for presentation and most original flavour. When Pigs Fly Pastries was more than thrilled to take 2nd place overall with the Alice in Wonderland inspired “Dreamsicle” cupcake – a French vanilla cupcake with fresh orange filling & Italian buttercream!
